In this week's ramble I present some insights into the whole "media and body image" thing - just some things to think about. And a homework assignment too!

I have a bit more to say about to say about this, but I'll save it for a future episode 💋

    Hi Eve,
I'm just chilling and listening to your excellent rambles. This one...Spot on again. I love nothing more when I'm sitting in a cafe, than to sit back with a cup of coffee and people watch, way better than flicking through emails etc. But more and more these days that's all you see people doing...unfortunately!
I read somewhere, that all super models were just ordinary people...But just made up with all the tricks of the trade to look Super! Stripped down...they are just plain people you wouldn't recognise in the every day situation...When people watching!😏

Thank you! I am a photographer and I often shoot Playboy models - I can tell you, most of them you would pass on the street without a second glance. They look like very small, very skinny, very average women in real life, especially in their normal clothes and no makeup or styling. So you're spot on too :D

    Dear Eve,
A friend of mine send me links to your 'rambles', as you call them. I listened to the first one, the second and now this one as well.
I love how you talk about these things, I love how you explain them. You make me feel at ease and assured.
Also your voice is like honey. But warm honey, cause it also gives me a fuzzy and warm feeling.
You are a wonderfull woman Eve, and I only know your voice! Haha kisses and huggles from a dutch female~

Good points as always! I never really thought about it in terms of population and in terms of the number of people that people meet or see.

And the homework assignment is interesting too! I've never really done a lot of people watching to it should be fun!

I really enjoyed your explanation of what's going on. It really rings true and it doesn't require a big conspiracy, even if, to be sure, some parts of the fashion industry especially has truly lost its head.

And as you have said in the Porn Ask Eves previously, I think the tendency among porn, with some popular sites being particularly egregious, to only show rippling hulks with full body tattoos and tiny pixies certainly does its part. It's not that we can't tell that they're not regular people - it's that it's so far from regular people it's hard to even dial it back in your head. It becomes sex theater, with a lot of absurdity nearly everywhere you look... and in the absence of any sane, calm, realistic presentation of sex, it's so easy to categorize it just as something very distant from your own life.

Though I probably will need to remind myself, I will heed the advice to really notice how few regular people are built like Ironman champions. I tend to find almost everyone beautiful in some way, and maybe that backfires for me here.

No, it doesn't backfire, it's a nice thing to see all people as beautiful in some way. Just make sure you include yourself in that assessment 💋

thanks Joe! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Love your wrinkles, they're lines of experience!
