Bedtime Stories: The Lady or the Tiger by Frank Stockton
For this edition of Bedtime Stories (this one also appeared on my earlier podcast Chill), I've chosen "The Lady or the Tiger" by Frank Stockton, a clever little short story which asks what is, to my mind, a question to which the answer is fairly obvious.
See if you think so too...

You pick the most interesting, thought-provoking bedtime stories! The story usually keeps me awake and enthralled, but this time, you turned on your bedtime story voice that was extra enchanting and "bedtimey". I was drifting in and out during the middle of the story.
But I managed to piece together most of the story...you think the answer is obvious??? I still am waffling back and forth! I think the best answer is to pick the lady, so that at least he can live and then maybe they can run off to another kingdom. But I can't help but wonder: if she picks the tiger, maybe he can Gladiator* his way out...it is a "semi-barbaric" kingdom! And it's super melodramatic romantic Romeo-and-Juliet style points! :P
